Jimi Hendrix London Flat Opens To Public
’60s Guitar God Jimi Hendrix will have his Mayfair flat turned into a museum for fans to visit.
His 23 Brook Street address has undergone a £2.4m restoration to give an idea of what life was like for the rock star. Rare and unseen photos will decorate the flat as well as a new studio installation that will be used for concerts and teaching.
After buying the flat in 1968, Hendrix described it as “the first real home of his own”. He lived there for over a year with girlfriend Kathy Etchingham and had many notable jam sessions with other musicians during that time.
Alistair Stranack, Chairman of the Handel House Trust who own the flat said, “We hope that the opening of Jimi Hendrix’s flat will give people an added insight into the life and work of a figure whose actions have been examined no end since his death in 1970.”
Tickets will go on sale this November on Handel and Hendrix House for the opening on the 10th Feburary 2016.
