Expanded Sgt. Pepper Reissue With 3 Week Celebrations
The Beatles are releasing an expanded 50th anniversary reissue of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
The 1967 reissue will contain previously unreleased session takes that capture the band in the studio as Sgt. Pepper was being made. We’re promised 100 minutes of outtakes and a lost version of “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds”. The edition will include a DVD or Blu-ray version of the documentary on the making of Sgt. Pepper plus hi-res stereo mixes, posters, a 114-page booklet and a replica insert from the original release. The trailer above confirms that the Beatles have restored well-adored tracks “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Penny Lane”.
To mark this special occasion, The Beatles’ home town of Liverpool is planning a three week celebration called Sgt. Pepper at 50: Heading for Home. Paul McCartney has given his blessing for the event but himself and Ringo Starr won’t be expected to attend. The party will commence from the 25th May to 16th June and will include a multi media event for each of the album’s 13 tracks.
