Five older women who are still iconic

June 22, 2014

While most people are wasting their lives on Icons like Miley and Rihanna, I look to the older generation to find solace in the ladies who have lived through it all and still look fabulous.

I am always looking up to the strong women who seem to age with taste and style. They are the true idols that people should be looking up to rather than a girl who can make her butt vibrate.

Vivienne Westwood, a woman who has reshaped fashion and flashed whilst meeting the Queen, is a perfect example of creative genius and character. She’s not afraid to stand up for she believes in and does it in her wild style. Her orange flame hair and flamboyant designs make her stand out which is exactly what she wants.

Roberta Haze

Roberta Haze is a strong New Yorker with a penchant for sex. She is a costume designer who has her own individual style and poise. Swearing somehow doesn’t sound so rude falling from her wrinkle lips. Another example of a strong woman who dares to indulge in a non-monogamous life.

Joanna Lumley

Joanna Lumley is a famous British actress that used to model in the sixties. She was most popular for her role in Absolutely Fabulous as the fashion-forward alcoholic. Her velvety polite voice could have you engaged for hours whilst presenting a recent adventure documentary on the BBC.

June Brown

June Brown, most famous for her role in Eastenders as Dot Cotton since 1985 has aged with such poise. She outshone Lady Gaga in a Graham Norton interview and starred in a Hitchcock film. What could be more worthy of a lifetime achievement award than that? She is the Eastenders queen and everyone’s quite happy for her to reside on the thrown.

Brigitte Bardot

Brigette Bardot is another actress who has devoted her fame to those who cant speak with their mouths -animals. Her beauty and talent got her publicity in the 60s with divine hair and makeup. But rather than soaking up all the adoration people had for her, she campaigned with a passion to protect her furry friends. Still to this day she lives on a farm tirelessly protecting animals.

So while young girls are admiring the wrong women, these queens are outliving everyone and laughing behind their cherry lipstick-stained cigarettes.
