The Last Filmed Concert Of The Doors

December 15, 2017

The historic Isle Of Wight concert of The Doors is now going to be available for the first time.

The Doors: Live At The Isle Of Wight Festival 1970 is going to be released by Eagle Rock Entertainment on February 23rd. This is the band’s last known performance that has been yet to be released. It contains previously unreleased footage which is completely recut and remixed.

Amongst the headliners for 1970’s Isle Of Wight festival was Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Joni Mithcell, Miles Davis and more. The DVD showcases footage of the fans, snapshots of the era and full-length performances from their 84-minute set. The show includes ‘Light My Fire’, ‘Break On Through To The Other Side’ and other Doors staples. The footage has been fully approved by The Doors and mixed by Doors co-producer Bruce Botnick.

“Our set was subdued but very intense”, Doors co-founder Manzarek later stated. “We played with a controlled fury and Jim was in fine vocal form. He sang for all he was worth but moved nary a muscle. Dionysus had been shackled.”

This comes as The Doors’ debut album and Strange Days turn 50 this year.

The DVD also included bonus interviews with the film’s original director, manager Bill Siddons and a 2002 chat with Manzarek. Pre-orders are available below.
