New Patti Smith Concert Documentary To Be Released
It has been announced that a new Patti Smith documentary will be released.
The documentary was filmed during the final concert of her 40th-anniversary tour at the Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles. Horses: Patti Smith and her Band was directed by Steven Sebring and produced by Jimmy Iovine.
Horses was Patti Smith’s debut album that merged rock n roll with Beat poetry. It was released in 1975 and was quickly adopted by the rising punk scene in New York, a scene Patti was very much a part of. The record became a pivotal point in music, influencing artists such as Siouxsie And The Banshees, The Smiths and PJ Harvey.
Patti also received the John Lennon Real Love Award last year and performed a number of her favourite John Lennon and Beatles songs.
Horses: Patti Smith and her Band will premiere on April 23rd at the Tribeca Film Festival.
