The new series is to be called Fear & Loathing, named after the writer’s selection of writing under the same name. Hunter S. Thompson’s life was an eventful one, more notably documented in the book Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas. He has also locked heads with the infamous biker gang Hells Angels, followed the campaign of Nixon and is said to be the founder of ‘gonzo’ journalism.

MGM Group’s president said in a statement, “As we look to the future of MGM Television, it is imperative that we forge long-term relationships with creators who have an eye for dynamic storytelling. Davey is tremendously talented and has demonstrated that he can deliver quality programming that will resonate with viewers.”

Holmes has recently worked on a series called Get Shorty which is a take on the Elmore Leonard novel. He’s also written for shows like Shameless and In Treatment. We hope he’ll do the man justice like previous films Where The Buffalo Roam and Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas.
