Drink Review: Bohemian Lager
Bohemian Lager 5% ABV
It comes as no surprise, after the success of Killer Queen Vodka, that Queen would jump on the beer bandwagon and release their own lager. Following the likes of Kiss, AC/DC, Motorhead, Pearl Jam, Iron Maiden and more, the band have launched a brew in time with their 40th anniversary of the legendary rock-opera “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
This decadently designed bottle contains beer that is brewed in Pilzen, fittingly located in the Bohemia region of the Czech Republic. It contains only three simple ingredients which are Czech soft water, Moravian barley malt and Saaz hops packed into small glass bottles. The design displays the cover of Queen’s popular A Night At The Opera album which features the iconic Bohemian song. This makes it have feel like memorabilia which I can imagine an avid Queen fan buying, just to keep on a mantelpiece. Blasphemy!
On tasting I get a slight hint of rhubarb, cradled by an extremely hoppy texture. It’s golden in colour and not completely cloudy but it’s quite smooth for a beer that’s almost 5% abv and very easy to drink. Bohemian Lager is a beer that could carry you through the night and still be desirable first thing in the morning. A lively beer that matches the energy of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and it would be a crime not to drink it.
