BrewDog Launch The World’s First Transgender Beer

November 7, 2015

The notorious craft brewers, BrewDog have launched the world’s first transgender beer to celebrate the birth of their new Soho venue.

The 4.6% ABV Kölsch beer, No Label, has been created to tap into the Soho vibe and show the brand’s diversity in partnership LGBTQI and Queerest of the Queer. This has come as a bit of surprise after their provocative advert that was released earlier on this year upset that very same community. But to save their skins, BrewDog have generously donated all profits of their beer to support the transgender youth communities.

In the beer, they have used non-binary gender swapping hops called Jester Hops; a plant that changes sex whilst growing. Their website says, “We have used these to emphasise that, just like humans, beer can be whatever the hell it wants to be, and proud of it.”

As well as those sassy hops, the beer is cold-conditioned and brewed with ale yeast to further blur the lines between ale and lager. We can’t wait to head down to BrewDog on Poland Street to define the lines between shit or not because, hey, some things just need a label.
