April Wine’s Steve Lang Dead at 67
The former bassist of April Wine has passed away at the age of 67.
The news was announced by friend and April Wine singer Myles Goodwyn. Steve Lang was reported to have been suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
Goodwyn issued a statement saying, “My dear friend Steve Lang passed away this weekend. Steve played bass with April Wine for years and his musicianship was exceptional. Steve was a very intelligent guy that used his smarts to do well in the music industry as a player and writer, and later, in the world of finance. He was a nice man – a real gentleman. The last conversation I had with Steve was wonderful, I’m so happy that we had the chance to have had it.”
He added, “My condolences go out to his family. He will sadly be missed by his friends and by fans everywhere.”
Steve Lang took the place of original member Jim Clench in 1976 during the band’s fifth album The Whole World’s Gone Crazy. This became the most commercially successful period for the band and managed to hit the top charts during that time.
Lang went on to make another seven studio albums with the April Wine and the band is most known for their hit “Just Between You And Me”.
We are all very sad to hear about the loss of another great musical talent this year. Please share your best April Wine memories in the comments below.
