Two French brothers grabbed my attention recently by mixing the sounds of the 20s with contemorary hip-hop. Smoke Joe & The Kid have seen rising popularity with their first LP – Nasty Tricks and have continued to produce eclectic mash-ups of urban and vintage fusion. These Bordeux gangsters sure know how to swing.
What strikes me is the way they can turn a 20’s flapper dance into something that could be played at a rave. They somehow makes the songs more intense and you could totally get lost in the smoke.
