I wonder if people will look back on this era and call it The Foodie Ages. Or The Foodnaissance? We are literally obsessed with food. Whether its fondling our belly button over food porn, tossing off over the latest food van or ejaculating with new found cooking skills, we’re loving it. So much so that the power of Twitter has helped launch a number of food companies including Lucky Chip.

What started as an attempt to make the perfect French fry, was turned into a fully fledged Burger business headed up by Ben Denner. After bloggers and social media fiends got virtual boners over his food, Lucky Chip became a success. Using 28 day aged beef from The Ginger Pig Butcher and triple hand cut fries became hard to resist.

After taking residency at a few bars and owning a temporary shack, Lucky Chip landed at North London favourite, The Old Queen’s Head. Being no stranger to this place, it didn’t take long before The Carouser visited. With sore heads and fuzzy brains, we drag ourselves on Bank Holiday Monday to test the waters and to get a bite of the very politically relevant Donald Trump Burger.

The menu is full of famous names; Woody Harrelson (Vegetarian), John Belushi and Kevin Bacon all have a place on the menu. Occasionally they have a special, and The Donald Trump sounds right up our alley. To match Trump’s lavish lifestyle the aged burger is to be slathered in rich Bourbon and Vanilla BBQ sauce topped with smoked bacon, American cheese, onions and pickles. Fuck me.

It comes out in all it’s burger glory with an American flag piercing the seeded bun. The bourbon glaze mixed with vanilla tastes like heaven on earth. The sweet, smooth ooze is perfect enough to bring me out of my post-carnival comedown. The patty isn’t as bloody as promised and crumbles away at the slightest bite. Like Trumps signature hair, the burger is extremely messy and I’m forced to use a knife and fork as my fingers progressively gets stickier. I’d prefer it more rare and less crumbly but I cannot falter this American-style burger.

The burger is complimented by a pint of Camden Hells Lager -just light enough to leave room for this beauty of a burger but level off the hangover at the same time. The wasabi mayo and chilli cheese chips are hands down the best sides to this burger. If you have room to spare (unlike me) keep all the food to yourself and bask in all Lucky Chip’s splendour.

The Old Queen’s Head is the perfect spot for a burger. I’m soothed by the sounds of the open mic whilst sitting in an antique style booth. By the time I leave, my hangover is non-existent. Lucky Chip do supreme, well thought out burgers that have a lot of love concealed under its toasty hat.  The Old Queen’s Head is a faultless match too,  and I hope they can stick around longer for many hangovers to come.
