Jailhouse Rock Hits North London

January 18, 2015

North London waves goodbye to the popular Kentish Canteen as it re-brands itself as Joe’s, a prison-themed bar, this March.

Don’t get confused with the sweaty swing dance club near Chalk Farm station, however – this Joe’s is the second instalment of Joe’s Southern Kitchen and Bar in Covent Garden.

The southern Americana-style venue will feature a new basement bar called JAILBIRD, which will be decked out with alcove drinking booths originally used as cells. A range of music will soothe jailbirds, including northern soul, rockabilly, old fashioned blues, and country.

Joe’s is offering the Kentish Town area a taste of the country with a large range of bourbons and ryes to keep you lubricated. Food will include their signature dish, Sweet Tea Brined Fried Chicken, amongst other favourites.

Restaurant operations manager Jim Robertson says, “The restaurant scene in NW5 is about to explode and we want to be a part of it.”

The bar will open at 300 Kentish Town Road, NW5 2TG.
