Samuel Adams Cashes In On ‘Brexit’
June 30, 2016
As Britain panics about the Brexit result, American brewers The Boston Beer Company cash in on us leaving the EU.
The Boston Beer Company, the people who are behind Samuel Adams and Angry Orchard, have applied to trademark the term “Brexit” last Friday. A mere day after the votes were cast and announced to the world. The extremely successful craft beer company intends to use the term to market a hard cider. As if the word Brexit itself isn’t painful enough, an American cider of the same name might be enough to make our eyes leak.
But they weren’t the only ones who rushed to trademark the term. A Chicago individual and a Colorado Company have also filed to trademark the name for clothing and dietary supplements… Americans.
