Listen To Paul McCartney’s Rare 1965 Christmas Mixtape

December 5, 2017

An extremely rare recording made by Paul McCartney has surfaced online.

Paul McCartney made this record in 1965 for his bandmates around Christmastime. Only three copies of this record were known to exist.

Dangerous Minds published this mixtape-style record along with an interview with Paul from 1995.

“I had two Brenell tape recorders set up at home, on which I made experimental recordings and tape loops, like the ones in ‘Tomorrow Never Knows.’” Paul said in 1995, “And once I put together something crazy, something left field, just for the other Beatles, a fun thing which they could play late in the evening. It was just something for the mates, basically.”

The track features Paul doing his best American accent to introduce his favourite records. These include ‘Unforgettable’ by Nat King Cole, ‘Someone Ain’t Right’ By Peter and Gordon, ‘I Get Around’ by The Beach Boys, ‘Heat Wave’ by Martha and the Vandellas, ‘Don’t Be Cruel’ by Elvis Presley and ‘Down Home Girl’ by the Rolling Stones.

The Beatles camp will also be releasing a limited edition box set of the Christmas records they sent their exclusive fan club. The Carouser is just releasing their latest magazine with George Harrison as the cover star.
