An Absolutely Fabulous Film For 2015?
After various rumours and knowing hints from the divine Joanna Lumley, comedian and writer Jennifer Saunders has announced that she has finished her first draft of Absolutely Fabulous The Movie and plans to shoot the film this year.
It has been 23 years since the show’s first pilot episode on TV. The comedy follows trend-obsessed PR woman Eddie Monsoon and her alcoholic best friend Patsy Stone. The chain-smoking pair have earned a cult following with 39 episodes, which have starred a number of celebrities including Emma Bunton, Lulu, and Stella McCartney. Now, with the promise of a new film, stars like Cara Delevingne have aired their desires to be included in the movie.
Jennifer Saunders recently told The Sunday People, “I’ve finished the first draft. I’m feeling euphoric. My proper New Year’s resolution is to do the film, otherwise it’ll be a pointless year of procrastination”
Though binge-drinking characters Edina and Patsy are included in the draft, Jennifer doesn’t reveal much else about the plot. But with high hopes for the movie being completed in 2015, it’s likely it wont be released until next year. Lets hope that it’s not a flop like her dreadful Spice Girls adaptation, darling.
