Playlist: Classic Halloween Songs

October 23, 2017

We’re fed up with being spoon fed ‘Thriller nights’ and we’re sick of losing friends after being driven insane by their pelvic thrusts during ‘Time Warp’. So we’ve binned the cliche spook soundtracks and flicked through our vintage record collection. It’s time to bring back the Halloween classics.

For this playlist we’ve compiled a number of classic songs from the late ’60s, ’70s and a few from the early ’80s. In this era, Horror punk was born along with a family with a severe fetish for all things spooky- The Addams Family. The ’70s saw the ‘Grandfather Of Goth’ Alice Cooper rise to fame with his notorious horror-inspired performances as we saw more and more bands playing dress up. We’ve also included some of the early influences of gothic sound like Joy Division and former Gravedigger Dave Vanian.

This playlist is perfect for a Halloween party full of people who like good music. If you think we’ve missed something out, let us know in the comments below. We’d love to hear your suggestions.
